Take a moment for the video to encourage you and then search for the kind of support you currently need, for example a doctor or counselling organisation:
It may be difficult to talk to others about such a private topic, but for the professionals you need, this is part of their daily work. They are trained to listen and address potentially embarrassing matters.
First of all, there is nothing to feel ashamed! Things are as is, and you probably did not even have a choice when you were cut.
Did you know that doctors must not tell anyone about you and your matters? Also helplines, counselling services, and lawyers work confidentially, in some cases you don’t even have to give your name, it is anonymous!
The sooner you know about your rights and options, the better you are prepared and can avoid situations which could not only make you feel uncomfortable but could really put you in danger!
Just imagine that you urgently need to be examined and treated by a doctor, but the small opening does not allow this. Or that the midwife in the hospital only sees that you are cut immediately before giving birth.
All professionals in our contact search are aware that cut girls and women live in Germany and have at least an idea of what being cut means. They are ready to help as much as they can!
You’re also welcome as family or community member to ask your questions and share your concerns related to the girl or woman you know and who is affected or at risk of being cut. In the end, there is one common goal: To protect and ensure their health!
Because no one talks openly about cutting, there is unfortunately much misinformation, therefore, it is so important to finally talk about it. Be brave and do the first step, there is much to win for you and the ones around you!
We recommend asking for an appointment via phone or e-mail.
If it is urgent, let them know in order to get immediate help!
